Have a Spa Day
Two words: Spa day. Although a spa vacation may sound exciting, a great alternative to treat yourself can be making your own custom relaxing spa experience at home. To get some serious bang for your buck, grab a few face masks, some mani-pedi supplies, and have a DIY spa day.
Have a Cooking Night
If you’re one of those travelers who eats your way around new locales, transform your kitchen into a dining destination. Try out some new recipes and have fun creating an exotic dinner right in the comfort of your own home. If you’re really feeling creative, pick a culture or cuisine and turn it into a multi-course affair, complete with beverages, dessert, and decor.
Pitch a Tent
Even if you can’t get away for a wilderness camping trip, there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying the great outdoors right in your own backyard. Get out the camping gear and pitch a tent in the backyard. Add a little flare and make s’mores with your outdoor fire pit or grill (charcoal or gas or if you need to, use the microwave if your area prohibits campfires), and tell some spooky stories with a flashlight. Plus, you can even camp in your living room if you don’t want to deal with bugs!
Host Your Own Film Festival
Nothing is stopping you from hosting your own film festival from your couch. Try screening a series like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or Star Wars or pick a theme and choose films to fit. Pop some popcorn and don’t even think about changing out of your pj’s!
Create some Art
Stretch your creative muscles by creating your own piece of art. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy; the act of creating art is something fun and expressive that anyone can do. Choose a medium you are comfortable with. Are you a sketcher? Draw your favorite pet or plant or mountain range! You like working with your hands? Maybe clay is more your speed, then try making a sculpture of your car or favorite pet. Who knows, you may even get a cool new piece of decor to show for it!
Plan an outdoor excursion for your vacation. Lace up your hiking boots, visit a nearby park, or find a new route in your town. Soaking up some nature will help balance out your well-earned couch time. Take some time to appreciate the sunny weather!
