C∙U∙D Testimonials:

"I am so grateful to Children’s hospital. They not only saved my daughter’s life but have taught her how to live with her chronic illness with grace and courage. They encouraged her (and me) to ask questions and made a frightening experience so much better with their teams of dedicated physicians, nurses, CNAs and child life specialists. I will be forever grateful to this wonderful place!" - Ellen D.

"My brother spent his childhood in and out of Children’s Hospital. It was there that he was treated for his Muscular Dystrophy and an unknown rare form of Charcot Marie Tooth Disorder. They cared for him and provided whatever he needed to help with his day-to-day struggles. They are attentive, caring, and compassionate. Children’s’ always went above and beyond to find out what was wrong with my brother." - Samantha M.

"Children’s hospital cared for my son for 13 days when his appendix burst at 2 years old. He was in serious condition and had to have emergency surgery. During our stay at the hospital, the staff was great and provided lots of toys to keep him entertained. Eventually we began going on small walks through the halls until he recovered and was cleared to go home. I am so glad that Children’s Hospital was there for us during this trying time."

2024 Pet Calendar

The Pet Calendars are SOLD OUT! See how much money we raised this year.

Thank you to all the members and community photo contributors that made our 2024 calendar so awesome! This calendar is truly a labor of love of animals. Our staff loves to help feature our furry friends each year to support our local animal shelter.

Foothills Animal Shelter giant check presentation for 2024

As a reminder, all of the proceeds from the calendar sales will be donated to Foothills Animal Shelter, and this year our members helped raise a toal of $6,987.82! Thank you for helping us raise the much-needed funds it takes to operate and care for the animals that find their way to the Foothills Animal Shelter.

The Why Behind the Annual Pet Calendar

Making a difference in the lives of our community and members who reside here with their furry friends is important to us. We believe that supporting Foothills Animal Shelter can have a direct impact on our community. When one of the pets at Foothills Animal Shelter finds a fur-ever home, we know that the act of bringing in an unconditional loving animal affects the human just as much as the animal! We like to ask…Who Rescued Who?

This is most certainly a collaborative effort with our members and community. We ask our vendors to donate advertising dollars that help offset the cost of printing the calendar. So when you see an ad in the calendar, know they are supporting this paws-itively good cause and allows more of the proceeds to go to the shelter.

The pet photos are an outstanding way to share the joy that comes from owning a pet and helping to raise money for a great resource within our community. SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. We thank everyone who has been gracious enough to submit their photos of their beloved furry friends.

Thank you for your help in supporting Foothills Animal Shelter

Be sure to check out our video interviews with some of the pet owners and their pets that made the 2023 calendar!

Here is a little information from The Foothills Animal Shelter website to understand why we do this every year.

About Foothills Animal Shelter

Foothills Animal Shelter LogoFoothills Animal Shelter is an open-admissions facility, which means we never turn away an animal. We care for more than 9,200 orphaned cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and critters every year with a compassionate team of staff and volunteers. (Unfortunately, we cannot accept wild animals; they should be taken to organizations that specialize in their care.) We are a true community resource and offer a variety of services including pet adoption, Jefferson County pet licensing, affordable spaying and neutering, vaccinations, micro chipping and lost and found pets. We are committed to our important mission and the life-saving work that we do every day of the year.

C∙U∙D Employees Make Blankets For Children's Hospital

The C∙U∙D team comes together to make no-sew blankets for patients at Children's Hospital.

This fall, we set out on a mission to spread comfort and cheer to the brave little warriors at the Children's Hospital Colorado.

Over the course of three days C∙U∙D employees volunteered their time to craft cozy, handmade no-sew blankets for the patients of Children's Hospital.

Children’s Colorado’s Association of Volunteers recently released an article addressing the need for more blankets at Children's Hospital.

"Blankets for patients provide a source of normalcy and comfort amidst what can be a very stressful or scary time," said Melissa Platt with Association of Volunteers. “Patients don't always have a feeling of 'choice' when it comes to their care. Giving them a say when selecting a blanket makes them feel special."

We were honored with an ambassador visiting from Children’s Hospital. Debbie shared the incredible story from when her teenage daughter was a patient at Children’s. We were so moved learning more about the miracles that Children’s Hospital performs and to be able to play a small part in all that they do for their patients.

At the end of the three days we donated over 100 blankets!

group of people holding blankets

We hope these blankets will bring the children warmth and hope. It's about more than just blankets, it's about the love, care, and support we can provide to our community, and make a difference where it truly matters.

This was such a rewarding experience, and we can’t recommend it enough. If you are able, please consider donating to Children’s Hospital, whether that’s no-sew blankets or however you are able.

2023 C·U·D Scholarship Winners

Credit Union of Denver is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2023 Scholarship Program. Congratulations to our five $2,000 scholarship winners!

We are excited to share that we have awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to five individuals who will be furthering their education. This year we saw an abundance of scholarship applications from students on their way to doing remarkable things.

Thank you to everyone who entered this year. We had around ninety applications, creating a tough competition and difficult decisions for our scholarship committee.

Applications were anonymously reviewed by a group of Credit Union of Denver volunteers. Winners were selected based upon their academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities, essay responses, and other eligibility requirements. Thank you to our scholarship review team for taking the time to learn about each applicant and make those tough decisions.

Without further ado, below are this year’s scholarship winners.

Final Shred Event

We held our Final Shred Event on Earth Day April 22nd, 2023.

Shred Event 2023 Summary

Shred Event Summary from 2023

While this was a free event, we did collect donations on behalf of Children's Hospital Colorado. Our members lined up around the neighborhood (totaling 416 cars) and generously donated $2,120 for the hospital!

All the shredded paper was turned into paper pulp and will be upcycled into other useful items. Thank you to our Credit Union of Denver members and our employees who came out on this cold Colorado spring day! A job well done during Earth Month!

Althought his was our last big Shred Event, we are now implementing year-round access to shred services for our members!

Rather than a once-a-year Shred Event we now have locked Shred Bins in our lobbies. Members may bring in their shred anytime, for free, to place in the bins. We would ask that you please limit your weekly shred drop off to the equivalent of two plastic grocery bags full, to allow for more people to use the bins each week.

Credit Unions for Kids

We are proud to announce that we are supporting Credit Unions for Kids!

Credit Unions for Kids is the brand under which America's credit unions, including Credit Union of Denver, fundraise for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since Credit Unions are member-owned, not-for-profits, our main focus is our members and community. Credit unions are driven by the philosophy of "people helping people", and our support of CMN Hospitals is a great example of the ways credit unions give back and support their communities. In fact, since the creation of the CU4Kids brand in 1996, the credit union industry has raised $200 million for affiliated children's hospitals - over $13.6 million in 2019 alone! The credit union community has established a wonderful legacy at hospitals across the country, funding breakthrough research, numerous programs and services and construction of new facilities.
