Who Rescued Who?

Pet Calendar Photo Submissions are Open

Pets don’t just enter your life; they transform it. One moment, you are thinking they are ‘just a pet,’ and the next, you can’t imagine life without their sweet faces or their wagging tails.

The bond is nothing less than mutual! As your pet enriches the life of you and your family’s, you also become your pet’s entire world. Adopting an animal from Foothills Animal Shelter gives them a second chance at a loving home, whilst transforming your own in the process. But, until then, Foothills provides the care that these animals need and deserve. Their hard work and commitment don’t go unnoticed by Credit Union of Denver, and we believe it’s important to show our support and give back.

One way we give back is through our Annual Pet Calendars! These calendars combine our community’s love for their own pets with the joy of giving back to those animals still looking for their fur-ever homes. Your very own pet could be featured in our 13th annual pet calendar. Submit a photo of your pet and support a cause that gives 100% of the proceeds from calendar sales to Foothills Animal Shelter.

Taz 2023 pet calendarWonder how the community really feels about the pet calendars? Just ask Charlu why she entered a photo of her 13-year-old Australian cattle dog, Taz. There’s no doubt that Charlu wanted to see her handsome fur-baby featured in the Pet Calendar, but her participation truly stemmed from a deeper belief. She hopes that through the help of this initiative, “… all animals will be loved and cared for, and the Foothills Animal Shelter does that!” Taz’s photo was featured in our 2023 calendar. So… what are you waiting for? Submit your pet pic for the community to vote on, we wish you and your pet the best of luck in securing a spot! Has there ever been a more adorable way to give back?

For pets like dogs, learning how to sit on command is crucial to establish obedience. Learning to sit is also a great foundation to build off for your pup to learn other tricks, like lie down, stay, or even roll over!

If you’re not sure where to start, follow these steps:

  1. Grab your dog’s attention by holding a treat in your hand.
  2. Move the treat above your dog’s head. This will force them to sit down and look up to keep their eyes on the treat.
  3. Once they are sitting, praise while incorporating the word ‘sit’, so they can associate the good behavior with the word.
  4. Repeat this process 10-15 to see the best results

For guided instructions to teach your dog to sit, feel free to view this video. And they said you couldn’t teach an old dog new tricks!
